Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float ICU position at a short-term acute care hospital in Fishers, IN, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience and the ability to float across multiple units.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting
- Critical Care Float role covering ICU, PCU, MS, and ED based on departmental needs
- Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, and acute shock cases
- Specialized procedures include Cath Lab, TR Bands, Sheath Pulls, EEGs, Cardioversion, and Stress Tests
- Equipment used includes ventilators, Arctic Sun, and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:00
- Floating is a core component of this role across ICU, PCU, MS, and ED — including ED 'helping hands' coverage
- Higher patient ratios required when floating to PCU or MS
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required; strong PCU experience also considered
- Cerner EMR experience required
- RN degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Ability to manage higher patient ratios when floating to PCU or MS
- Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- This is a resource/float traveler role — candidates must be comfortable floating across ICU, PCU, MS, and ED
- Scrub colors: red top, black bottoms
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a designated break before returning: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break, and in-state residents require a 180-day break
