Job Description

Job Description

Jani-King International is the global leader in commercial cleaning franchising, with over 6,500 franchisees and 120 regional offices worldwide. For more than 55 years, we’ve partnered with organizations across healthcare, education, hospitality, stadiums, government, retail, and more—delivering professional cleaning services and unmatched customer satisfaction.

This is a hands-on, revenue-driving sales role. The Account Executive is a true individual contributor who owns their territory, builds their pipeline, and consistently closes new business. Success is measured by activity, pipeline health, and closed revenue—not by time spent behind a desk.

If you’re looking for a role where leads are handed to you and results don’t matter, this won’t be the right fit. If you thrive on prospecting, presenting, negotiating, and closing—and want to be directly rewarded for your performance—keep reading.

Position Summary

The Account Executive (Outside Sales) is responsible for driving new revenue growth within a defined local territory for Jani-King of California, Inc. This role focuses on aggressive prospecting, relationship development, and full-cycle B2B sales execution.

You will manage the entire sales process—from identifying prospects and conducting facility walkthroughs to presenting customized proposals and closing new accounts. This is a field-based role that requires consistency, discipline, and comfort being face-to-face with decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

Own Revenue Personally

  • Carry a clearly defined individual sales quota and consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
  • Prospect daily using a multi-channel approach, including cold calling, in-person outreach, networking, referrals, and company-generated leads.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a strong, accurate sales pipeline through disciplined follow-up, forecasting, and activity tracking.
  • Maintain consistent prospecting activity to ensure a healthy pipeline and predictable revenue growth.

Execute the Full Sales Cycle

  • Identify and qualify prospective clients through outreach, discovery conversations, and on-site meetings.
  • Conduct detailed facility walkthroughs and needs assessments to understand cleaning requirements, service expectations, and decision criteria.
  • Develop, present, and defend customized proposals and pricing solutions that clearly communicate value and differentiate Jani-King’s services.
  • Negotiate contract terms and close new business, maintaining ownership of the deal from first contact through signed agreement.
  • Ensure a smooth and professional handoff to operations and franchise support teams following contract execution.

Be a Visible, Field-Based Producer

  • Spend the majority of time actively selling in the field—meeting face-to-face with decision-makers and conducting walkthroughs.
  • Represent Jani-King at local networking events, chambers of commerce, trade shows, and community business functions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the local business community to support referrals, repeat business, and long-term growth.

Pipeline, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Accurately track sales activity, pipeline status, and results using company systems and CRM tools
  • Provide regular updates on activity levels, opportunities, and forecasts to regional leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, franchise support, and administrative teams to align expectations and support customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and ongoing development activities.

Professional Standards & Accountability

  • Maintain a professional image and conduct yourself as a brand ambassador for Jani-King of California.
  • Follow established sales processes, pricing guidelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Stay informed on service offerings, industry trends, and competitive activity within the local market.
  • Consistently demonstrate accountability, follow-through, and results-driven performance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2–5 years of experience in outside sales, B2B sales, or a quota-driven, high-activity sales environment
  • Demonstrated success prospecting, presenting, negotiating, and closing new business
  • Comfortable owning a full sales cycle and being held accountable to individual revenue goals
  • Strong cold-calling and business development skills, with persistence and consistent follow-through
  • Confident, professional communicator with the ability to present value to business owners and decision-makers
  • Highly organized with strong time management, prioritization, and pipeline management skills
  • Self-directed, competitive, and motivated by performance-based compensation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems for tracking activity and managing opportunities
  • Experience selling services, contracts, or recurring-revenue solutions strongly preferred
  • Experience in janitorial, commercial cleaning, or facilities-related services is a plus, but not required

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Reputation & Reach: Join the most recognized name in commercial cleaning franchising, with brand credibility that opens doors and shortens sales cycles
  • Entrepreneurial Culture: Own your territory, manage your pipeline, and operate with autonomy while being supported by an established organization
  • Performance-Driven Environment: Expectations are clear, results matter, and strong producers are recognized and rewarded
  • Direct Impact: Your sales efforts directly support local franchise growth and long-term client relationships
  • Stability: Be part of an essential business in a growing, recession-resistant industry

Compensation Transparency

The base salary for this position is $65,000 per year. In addition, this role participates in an uncapped commission plan, with commissions tied directly to individual sales performance.

For candidates meeting expectations in this role, first-year total compensation (base plus commission) is currently anticipated to range between $85,000 and $100,000, though actual earnings will vary based on individual performance, pipeline activity, and closed revenue.

Daily work will include a mix of driving, walking facilities, delivering presentations, and using a computer or mobile device to manage proposals, follow-ups, and reporting. This role requires comfort being on the move and engaging face-to-face with decision-makers.

Occasionally, the role may involve carrying light materials such as marketing or presentation supplies for meetings or networking events.

Driving & Travel Requirements

  • Reliable personal transportation for daily local travel within the assigned territory.
  • Must maintain personal auto liability insurance that meets or exceeds California state-required minimums.
