REPORTS TO: On-Site Foreman/Shipyard Superintendent/Vice-President
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Facilities Supervisor reports directly to the superintendent and leads their team to complete a wide variety of general labor. The ideal candidate will have experience managing employees in a fast-paced construction environment, strong organizational skills, and an aggressive work ethic with a focus on production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:
· Supervise general laborers, ensuring all work is completed safely with proper PPE and adherence to safety protocols, while meeting production standards
· Oversee cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of the construction site during all phases of construction
· Assist various departments and on-site contractors as needed
· Accurately record and submit timecards weekly for assigned employees
· Manage training, evaluation, coaching, write-ups, and terminations for direct reports
· Coordinate loading, unloading, and material movement around the active construction site
· Inspect assigned employees work for accuracy and quality
· Prepare outdoor areas of the jobsite for various weather conditions, including snow removal, debris removal, and application of ice melt
· Participate in the interviewing and hiring of general laborers
· All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE:
· Valid driver license
· Proven leadership experience in a construction environment
· Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Professional verbal and written communication abilities
· Experience using and teaching others the operation of basic hand and power tools
· Experience operating heavy equipment a plus
· Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· All types of physical movement are required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions
· Ability to use upper and lower extremities
· Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold
· Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders up to 24' at heights up to 70', stairs, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter inside of tanks, and confined spaces, through hatches, and manholes throughout much of the work shift
· Occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds
· Able to work over bodies of water
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed. Hand-eye coordination required.
HAZARDS: Weather, fumes, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, equipment, and vibration.
