- Use Computational Fluid Dynamics to model flow and heat transfer, informing design decisions.
- Conduct feasibility studies, perform calculations, and simulate systems to boost performance and reliability.
- Develop CAD models and release detailed manufacturing/assembly drawings and specifications.
- Triage and correct issues with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid systems in production.
- Team with controls engineers to align mechanical designs with automation, PLCs, and motion control.
- Maintain compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and company policy.
- Deliver clear technical documentation, reports, and project updates.
- Partner with vendors to source, evaluate, and qualify components for system enhancements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of mechanical equipment design, modification, or maintenance experience.
Capabilities that matter
- Expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, filtration, and conveyance.
- CAD proficiency (Fusion 360 or similar) for parametric design and documentation.
- CFD experience (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar); familiarity with FEA.
- Hands-on machinery troubleshooting, process optimization, and system integration.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Understanding of industrial automation, PLCs, and motion control systems.
- Skill in diagnosing mechanical and fluid failures and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience within heavy industrial, material handling, or processing sectors.
- Background with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or reliability engineering.
