Job Description\n
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience and an active ND or compact license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in an acute care hospital setting on the Med/Surg Oncology unit
- Unit has 31 beds and cares for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as strokes, HTN, COPD, CHF, A-fib, chest pain, MI post-ICU, cellulitis, AMS/behavioral, some Tele, surgical overflow, and oncology
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts and requirement to work every other weekend
- Floating required to other Med/Surg units and occasional ER holds, with priority to float travelers first
- Uses Epic EMR system
- No on-call responsibilities
- Unit manages titratable drips and uses BiPAP and trach equipment for stable patients
- Chemo administration is handled by core staff only
- Charge nurse present on each shift with no patient assignment unless needed
- Nurse aides/patient care techs assist with a 1:8 ratio
- Monitor techs read strips; RNs do not interpret telemetry strips
- No specific scrub color required
- Team-oriented, supportive work environment with strong unit culture
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- RTO must be provided upfront and is limited to 7 days per 13-week contract; additional RTO not approved after submission
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Not eligible if employed in any capacity by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

- Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience in an acute care environment
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience titrating drips, including Lasix and Heparin
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
