SUMMARY: The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes and milling machines to produce high-precision components within tight tolerances. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines according to engineering specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and written instructions
- Measure and verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision tools
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to address machining issues and improve processes
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of machines and work area
- Conduct routine quality checks and document inspection results
- Contribute to process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Assist in other areas as needed
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in manual lathe and milling machine operations
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, including speeds, feeds, and material behavior
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to precision and quality
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with manual lathes & tools required
- Experience with CNC machining is a plus but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred
