Responsible for completing all finishing services for press and copier work in compliance with job specifications and quality standards. Complete client’s job/project which may include drilling, stapling, glue padding, inserting, collating, laminating, cutting, folding, scoring, slitting, numbering, labeling, shrink wrapping, spiral binding, boxing, and packaging among other processes required to finish the printed piece before declaring the project complete and before final delivery to the client.
Provides continual care and maintenance on equipment, troubleshooting, and repairing. Serves as a member of the production team, communicates regularly with supervisors, production managers, customer service, and sales.
Compensation:
$22 - $25 hourly
Responsibilities:
- Receive and Process Materials: Handle printed materials and perform tasks to create finished products according to job specifications.
- Verify Job Requirements: Read job tickets to confirm details like quantity, parameters, and end product expectations for accurate finishing work.
- Operate and Set Up Equipment: Configure and run bindery equipment, including MBO and Stahl folders, cutters, saddle stitchers, mail equipment, drills, staplers, and numbering machines.
- Maintain Quality and Standards: Ensure finishing work meets or exceeds operational standards, quality requirements, and deadlines while adhering to OSHA and safety regulations.
- Perform Maintenance: Conduct regular equipment checks, make adjustments, repair or replace worn parts, and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Support Team and Production: Assist colleagues with bindery and production tasks, lift and move materials, and follow guidelines and schedules to meet production needs.
- Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks to support production goals, including manual collation, folding, and binding of printed materials.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one year of related experience/training in bindery or printing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret job tickets and instructions, write simple correspondence, and communicate effectively and professionally with the production team.
- Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and able to apply these skills to printing jobs.
- Reasoning Ability: Capable of applying common sense to follow written/oral instructions, solve problems independently, and address standard operational challenges.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, use hands/arms for handling equipment, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift/move 50+ pounds, and maintain close/distance/color vision with focus adjustment.
- General Proficiency: Must perform all essential duties proficiently, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities to meet job requirements.
