As a member of the Human Resources team, the Training Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring that employees are prepared to provide quality supports and services to the people served by the Agency by meeting all DDD, State and Federal training requirements necessary for employment. This position has a direct impact on the lives of those we serve by supporting staff to understand their role and responsibilities in line with Agency core values. Responsibilities include maintaining all staff training records in accordance with DDD, Federal and State law, regulatory requirements, and company policy.
Responsibilities:
· Facilitate new hire orientation and other training programs for all staff. Notify all training participants and presenters regarding any upcoming training sessions.
· Prepare, distribute and/or collect training materials and/or sign-in sheets.
· Create curriculum development and training certificates as applicable.
· Maintain a training database in SharePoint, including those related to DDD mandated staff trainings: Training Bundles (Including but not limited to all DDD required trainings, DDD Life Threatening Emergencies (Danielle’s Law), DDD Stephen Komninos’s Law Preventing Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation modules and practicum, Medication Training and practicum as applicable, First Aid & CPR; Health & Safety, Specialized Staff Trainings, Fire Evacuation & Emergency Procedures, Universal Precautions and other applicable trainings as needed.
· Serves as a College of Direct Supports (CDS) Administrator.
· Corresponds with CDSTA (the College of Direct Support Training Administrator) to create and request access to New Hire CDS accounts.
· Responsible for ensuring that all training documentation is completed for each training session, verifying and printing CDS transcripts and training/CPR certificates accordingly
· Reviews status of CPR/First Aid certification trainings monthly in order to schedule training in advance and/or ensure certification is renewed prior to expiration.
· Prints and submits completed documentation/checklists & certifications to the HR Director for auditing and filing in each employee's personnel file.
· Reviews new hire/rehire training documentation for compliance.
· Maintains an open line of communication with Department Mangers to ensure compliance with DDD and Corporate Compliance training requirements.
· Coordinates with Director of HR & the Quality Department on the status of training requirements, new training courses and updates based on statutory, organizational and DDD requirements.
· Provides necessary training updates & reports to Director of HR as required.
· Participates in audits/investigations as needed based on statutory and DDD requirements and internal audits. Audits training documentation periodically to ensure compliance.
· Provide training at our Day Hab Program as needed and conduct virtual training sessions as required
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
· Must be able to pass all pre-employment checks including drug screen, fingerprinting and background check
Qualifications:
· AA Degree
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Must have knowledge of DDD Training requirements, guidelines and CDS Training System and documentation requirements.
· Minimum of 2 year's experience in the Social Services field or non-profit setting preferred.
· 2-3 years training experience
· Must possess Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Must possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Must demonstrate the capacity to work effectively utilizing the College of Direct Support system.
· Ability to work with all levels of employees
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and/or evenings.
