Job Summary:

The Assistant Head Housekeeper supports the Head Housekeeper in supervising the daily operations of the housekeeping department. This includes overseeing team members, inspecting guest rooms and public areas for cleanliness and quality, training new staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation across the property.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assists in managing housekeepers, house persons, and lobby attendants. Helps oversee daily opening procedures, assigns room and area responsibilities, inspects rooms and public spaces, assists with scheduling, and serves as the acting Head Housekeeper in their absence.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet brand and safety standards.
  • Assists with daily room assignments and follows up on completion and quality checks.
  • Trains new team members on cleaning standards, procedures, safety practices, and use of equipment and supplies.
  • Conducts room and area inspections to ensure consistency and quality, correcting any deficiencies.
  • Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks as needed throughout the property.
  • Provides hands-on support by cleaning rooms or public spaces during high occupancy or staffing shortages.
  • Assists with laundry operations as needed, including washing, drying, folding, and restocking linens.
  • Monitors housekeeping supplies and assists with inventory control and ordering.
  • Ensures that cleaning equipment is maintained and reports malfunctions to maintenance.
  • Communicates effectively with front desk, maintenance, and other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to guest requests or concerns related to housekeeping.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests.
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking) to effectively communicate with team members and guests.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous housekeeping experience required.
  • Prior supervisory or lead housekeeping experience strongly preferred.
  • Education sufficient to read, write, and speak as needed for the role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times
