Position Overview:
This role involves delivering direct nursing care in alignment with the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance patient care and quality of life by systematically assessing the effectiveness of nursing practices.
- Build strong relationships and advocate for patients and their families to create personalized care plans.
- Utilize the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data, establish nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, and evaluate results.
- Design assessment and management strategies that consider the physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and recreational aspects of health responses.
- Demonstrate understanding of how illnesses affect each patient's overall status.
- Employ leadership skills to coordinate with patients, families, communities, and interdisciplinary teams in assessing needs, setting goals, planning interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
- Engage in effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure culturally sensitive, ethical, and compassionate care within available resources.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion, maintenance, and comfort measures.
- Promote a positive work environment by mentoring and serving as a role model for colleagues and students.
- Incorporate evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge into nursing care, ensuring it meets the specific needs of patients.
- Maintain a state of alertness and safety in all activities.
- May conduct point-of-care testing as per established guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
Experience:
- No prior experience necessary.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly communicate verbally to convey information.
- Frequent standing and walking required.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Frequent visual acuity for near and far distances, including color differentiation.
- Regularly use smell for detecting odors.
- Frequently utilize hearing for communication and monitoring alarms.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional patient handling.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Rarely involves crawling or running.
Licensure and Certifications Required:
For Illinois:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
For Missouri:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State
For Oklahoma:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State
- Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)
For Wisconsin:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State
- Or Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
