- Shift/Hours: Night Shift (4x10-hour shifts) with rotating weekends and holidays
Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist – Traveler performs high-complexity clinical testing and quality assurance duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards. This position requires technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and commitment to delivering accurate and timely diagnostic information in support of patient care.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory specimen handling, processing, and analysis following established procedures.
- Conduct testing and release results in compliance with laboratory protocols.
- Maintain accurate records for proficiency testing and quality control activities.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines, including CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA.
- Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
- Identify, document, and resolve deviations or performance issues.
- Report STAT or Critical Results promptly per lab policy.
- Train on new procedures and participate in departmental meetings and safety sessions.
- Participate in inspections and ensure readiness for audits.
- Maintain reagent and supply inventories with proper labeling and date tracking.
- Support departmental housekeeping and safety compliance.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (preferred).
- ASCP or AMT certification required or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience performing high-complexity testing.
- Knowledge of QA/QC practices and laboratory information systems.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Previous experience in hospital or reference laboratory settings.
- Experience with multiple computer and LIS systems.
- Strong multi-tasking and prioritization abilities.
