About the Role:

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner float position is a dynamic and integral role within our healthcare team, designed to provide flexible clinical support across multiple departments and specialties. The primary objective is to deliver high-quality patient care by performing comprehensive assessments, diagnosing conditions, and implementing treatment plans in varied clinical settings. This role requires adaptability to rapidly changing environments and patient needs, ensuring continuity of care and optimal health outcomes. The position also involves collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient management and facilitate efficient clinical operations. Ultimately, the float provider acts as a versatile clinical resource, enhancing service delivery and patient satisfaction throughout the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of practice.
  • Certification from an accredited PA or NP program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and clinical procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in multiple specialties or float roles within a healthcare system.
  • Basic skills in orthopedic care, suturing, SUD and trauma preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.
  • Demonstrated skills in patient education and interdisciplinary team collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations across diverse clinical areas as assigned.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and ordering diagnostic tests.
  • Will be assigned to different clinics and shifts to cover intake, sick call, Central Cell Block(CCB), infirmary & urgent care to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide patient education and counseling to promote health maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.
  • Adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations to maintain high standards of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with best practices.
