Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position requiring a VA or compact license, with advanced cardiac monitoring skills and weekend/holiday shifts.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 28-bed telemetry unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes cardiac and stepdown cases such as A-fib, STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF, CVA/TIA, chest pain, cardiac workups, metabolic disorders affecting cardiac function, and post-cardiac cath patients
  • Drips administered include Heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, Dopamine (no titration), and Insulin
  • Use of specialized devices such as TCDs, PICCs, midlines, CBI, and chest tubes
  • Monitor tech, charge nurse present each shift, nursing supervisor available 24/7, and medic assistance for difficult IVs or midline placements
  • Support staff typically includes one to two patient care techs depending on census
  • Oxygen delivered by nasal cannula, high-flow, or trach as needed
  • Every other weekend and holiday required for scheduling
  • Not open to local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility
  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, development and evaluation of care plans, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Must function as a patient advocate and manage complex, multi-system cases under rapidly changing conditions
  • Must pass EKG testing during orientation; study guides are provided in advance
  • Strong team structure with monitor techs, charge nurse, 24/7 nursing supervisor, and medics for advanced IV therapy
  • Holiday coverage required per unit schedule
  • First time travelers will not be considered for this position due to the travel experience requirement

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years of telemetry or relevant area experience required
  • At least 1 year of prior travel RN experience required
  • Completion of pass/fail EKG (dysrhythmia) exam at orientation, with two attempts allowed
  • Ability to care for diverse and complex cardiac patient populations
