Grand Rapids Towing and Merl's Towing Service is a family owned business with over 80 years of combined service in Grand Rapids and surrounding communities. We are West Michigan's Premier Road Service and Towing Provider, from light, medium and heavy-duty towing and specialized transportation.
Job summary: Looking for a college student studying Accounting or an individual that has an accounting degree. Reconcile and accurately post company transactions in QuickBooks. Online billing/receiving, cash/check settlement, process client invoices – obtain necessary information/documentation using appropriate procedures by phone/e-mail &/or fax, resolve billing issues, general office, some excel data entry, word, google maps, Company Safety material distribution(s), maintain/contribute to structure/procedures in this team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review/reconcile all invoices.
- Process payments: online billing, cash/check, client billing.
- Call/E-mail/Fax AR customers to obtain the necessary information to invoice/bill according to each customer’s needs for invoice processing.
- QuickBooks data entry: Sales Receipts, Invoices, Receiving Payments, Bank Deposit
- Proactively resolve any issues for unpaid invoices.
- Maintain select reports.
- Assists in monthly closings.
- Filing, faxing, copying.
- Help with company social media page and other team activities.
- Maintain other general office duties: memos, driver’s books, and other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
- Preferred required experience: 1-year Office; Accounts Receivable &/or Accounts Payable; QuickBooks experience a plus!
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated and highly organized identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Be able to think outside of the box. Positively receive feedback to improve performance.
- Dependable & timely – both in the following schedule and processing work.
- This is a co-partnered department. Must be flexible and a positive contributing team partner.
- Follows instructions, responds to management direction.
Physical demands: The office is located upstairs without an elevator/lift, must be able to climb stairs, primarily a sedentary position, moderate to heavy computer use, sitting, twisting, bending, standing, use of both hands and arms, walking and limited light lifting of files.
Required education: College or equivalent
Easy pre-employment process: After acceptance of an application for employment and interview. Employment pending investigative reports such as, but not limited to Substance Examination, Criminal & Sexual background checks, previous employment history, Motor Vehicle records.
Hourly: $23 and up depending on experience

Schedule:
- Day shift 4-5 days a week; depending on skill set.
- Monday to Friday; 35-40 hours a week.
- Summer time flexibility.
- No weekends, nights, or holidays.
- Hours may be adjusted slightly when a teammate is on vacation.
Education:
- College or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Microsoft Excel: 1 year (Preferred)
- QuickBooks: 1 year (Preferred)
