We are a privately owned, family-operated wood mulch manufacturing company seeking a highly organized, hands-on Logistics & Customer Service Manager to oversee daily shipping operations, fleet coordination, and customer relations. This leadership role bridges production, transportation, and customer satisfaction to ensure on-time deliveries and exceptional service.

This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, blue-collar environment and takes pride in building efficient systems, developing teams, and delivering consistent, high-quality products.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment and is comfortable balancing logistics planning with direct customer communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily dispatch and routing for a fleet of trucks statewide
  • Schedule deliveries in alignment with production output and customer deadlines
  • Monitor driver performance, DOT compliance, and safety standards
  • Optimize routes and freight efficiency to control fuel and operational costs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts and bulk customers
  • Manage order entry, delivery scheduling, and issue resolution
  • Maintain strong relationships between customers and vendors.
  • Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Ensure accurate billing and communication between sales, production, and accounting
  • Work closely with plant management to align manufacturing output with shipping schedules
  • Monitor inventory levels to meet delivery demands
  • Improve processes for efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and implement logistics KPIs and performance metrics
  • Supervise dispatch personnel and customer service staff (if applicable)
  • Manage the team of company drivers and coordinate 3rd party transport services
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture consistent with family-owned values
  • Train and mentor team members in trucking, logistics, and customer service best practices

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation management, or supply chain operations
  • Experience managing fleet operations (preferably 10+ trucks)
  • Strong management experience with leading a team of drivers
  • Strong customer service and account management background
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction materials, agriculture, or similar industries preferred
  • Proficiency in dispatch software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasonal demand
