Job Title: Accountant
Location: Chicago, IL
Pay: $70,000 - $75,000 / year

Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Accountant & Office Manager to oversee the company’s full accounting cycle while supporting broader business operations. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys working in a small business environment and is comfortable stepping beyond traditional accounting responsibilities to support areas such as HR, insurance, systems, and operational reporting.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, a business-minded approach, and a collaborative personality that fits well within a tight-knit team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance (90%)
- Manage the full accounting cycle from start to finish
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Prepare internal financial statements and management reports
- Develop audit schedules and support external audit requests
- Manage accounts payable, including check runs and vendor payments
- Oversee payroll processing through Paylocity, including semi-monthly payroll and commission calculations
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and review the work of the clerical accounting staff member responsible for invoicing and cash receipts
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls across accounting processes
Office & Business Operations (10%)
- Serve as Office Manager and support day-to-day business operations
- Assist the sales team with:
- Sales tax questions and compliance
- Vendor forms and documentation
- Vendor portal management and reporting
- Maintain and update financial and operational reports within the company’s ERP system (SAP experience preferred but not required)
- Support business functions such as insurance renewals, HR administration, and website coordination as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting in a small to mid-sized business
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred
- Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP platform
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff
