Pay: $3,000 - $3300 per week
Job Summary
Pride Health is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a contract opportunity in Johnson City, NY. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting radiopharmaceuticals while performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of radiation safety, quality control processes, and nuclear medicine imaging techniques including SPECT and SPECT/CT.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, document, dispense, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Perform a broad range of diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT and SPECT/CT imaging.
- Operate gamma cameras, thyroid uptake systems, and related imaging equipment.
- Transfer and retrieve image data through PACS and document studies within EPIC.
- Maintain radiation safety standards for patients, staff, and the environment.
- Perform and document daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control testing on equipment.
- Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials and waste according to regulatory requirements.
- Prepare image data for physician interpretation, including processing, formatting, calculations, and reconstruction.
- Educate patients regarding procedures and safety measures.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Start IV lines, administer radioisotopes, and remove IVs as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and required records for licensing and accreditation agencies.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Nuclear Medicine required.
- Active New York State Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine required.
- NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification required.
- Current BLS Certification (AHA, American Red Cross, or HSI) required.
- Experience performing nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including SPECT and SPECT/CT.
- Knowledge of radiation physics, radiation safety, and radiopharmaceutical administration.
- Experience with PACS and electronic medical record systems.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine.
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Familiarity with EPIC and advanced imaging workflows.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and patient-centered care.
