SUMMARY: The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, verifying stock levels, and supporting the efficient flow of materials throughout the warehouse. This role ensures that all raw materials, consumables, and finished goods are properly received, recorded, and tracked. The Inventory Control Clerk plays a key role in identifying discrepancies, improving inventory procedures, and supporting cross-departmental collaboration to maintain operational accuracy and efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Verify clerical inventory records against physical stock counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in inventory computations or physical counts.
  • Investigate and document reasons for inventory discrepancies, reporting findings to management.
  • Ensure all raw materials are received, verified, and accurately recorded in the inventory system.
  • Conduct accurate counts of received raw materials, delivered parts, and consumables.
  • Perform regular monthly cycles and participate in annual physical inventory counts and audits.
  • Manually count stock items and reconcile with system records.
  • Enter daily production reports and update inventory databases accordingly.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed logs of all products, materials, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Production, Quality Control, Accounting, Logistics) to ensure inventory accuracy and availability.
  • Responsible for requesting and replacing missing labels to ensure accurate tracking and identification of items.
  • Manage open bundles, organize and tag.
  • Monitor inventory levels and alert management of low stock or overstock situations, monitoring base stock.
  • Verify and adjust total tonnage per purchase order by comparing it to the actual quantity received.
  • Record and Manage scrap metal.
  • Support continuous improvement of inventory management procedures and warehouse organization.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • May require operating forklifts or other warehouse equipment (certification may be needed).
  • Quickbooks and Smartsheet experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred; certification is a plus.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a similar role.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Inventory Control Clerk has no supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for accurately documenting inventory transactions, reporting discrepancies, and coordinating with team members, vendors, and supervisors. The ability to read and interpret purchase orders, shipping documents, and inventory records is required. Clear and professional communication is also necessary for composing emails, updating logs, and participating in team discussions. Bilingual abilities may be preferred depending on operational needs.
