THE POSITION
Reporting Structure: The Director – Operations will report to the VP – Operations.
Role and Responsibilities
The Director – Dedicated Operations is a results-driven leader responsible for multi-site operational execution and full P&L ownership within CRST’s dedicated business. This leader will oversee all aspects of performance, team development, asset management and customer service across temperature-controlled or high-security freight operations. Managing a $25M–$75M P&L and a team of 4–5 direct reports, the Director plays a critical role in aligning operations with financial targets and customer expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operational Leadership – Oversee dedicated operations across multiple sites to ensure contractual, safety and service commitments are met
- Team Management – Direct and develop a team of 4–5 leaders across operations, maintenance, equipment and recruiting while fostering a high-performance culture
- P&L Ownership – Manage a $25M–$75M P&L, identifying trends and opportunities to improve financial results and operational efficiency
- Customer Alignment – Collaborate with account management to ensure service delivery aligns with customer expectations and support strategic conversations
- Fleet Strategy – Maintain visibility to incoming and outgoing equipment to proactively plan and position assets for optimal utilization
- Performance Optimization – Drive consistency and best practices across locations through KPI tracking, root cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Compliance & Safety – Promote a safety-first culture while ensuring adherence to all company policies and federal regulations
- Accountability & Reliability – Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- 5–10+ years of experience in dedicated transportation operations, preferably with temperature-controlled or high-security freight
- Proven success managing P&L of $25M+ and leading multi-functional teams across dispatch, maintenance, equipment and recruiting
- Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of developing high-performing managers and teams
- Deep understanding of trucking operations, including fleet planning, driver management and compliance
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Skills and Expertise:
- Strategic problem-solving and analytical skills to identify operational challenges and drive effective solutions
- Experience partnering with account management teams to build long-term customer relationships
- Strong financial acumen, with a focus on revenue performance, cost control and continuous improvement
- Proven ability to lead change, align teams and deliver results across multiple locations
