LA Brands is a bi-coastal apparel manufacturer, selling both wholesale and retail, working with local LA contractors, overseas manufacturers, and everything in-between. Our domestic division, US Blanks, makes high quality knitwear, locally and sustainably, for both our own at-once wholesale collection, and private label for our customers. Our international division, LAB Apparel, works with a group of the best overseas apparel manufacturing facilities to service premium national brands and retailers.
Accounting Manager role:
This is a full-time role for an ambitious and capable accounting professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is currently a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in our Vernon, CA facility.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of accounting tasks and financial analyses to support the organization's financial operations. Compile financial statements, reconcile various General Ledger accounts, prepare journal entries for the month-end close, and take part in key projects for the Company. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and contributing to the overall success of the finance department and manage the AR & AP team.
Major Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Participate in all activities related to full-cycle accounting, including compiling financial statements, creating journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Prepare sales tax returns.
- Reconcile bank statements and prepare weekly cash flow reports.
- Provide support to finance management and other internal customers as needs arise, including ad-hoc analysis and special projects.
- Schedule AP payments, wire transfers and check runs.
- Actively supervise Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable personnel.
General Ledger and Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and record journal entries, including those for month-end and year-end close processes.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure its accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage and execute month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing closing entries, reviewing account balances, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.
- Assist with the coordination of external and internal audits.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in accounting or related field, in the apparel industry.
- Strong time management, analytical and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLookup).
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
- Experience compiling financial statements, recording journal entries, & reconciling accounts.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Familiarity with HR a plus.
- GCS A2000 experience is not required but preferred.
