\nAurora Medical Center West Allis is a reputable Level IV Trauma Center located at 8901 W. Lincoln Ave, West Allis, WI 53227. The facility boasts a high-caliber healthcare environment with 277 hospital beds, including a Level III NICU, and serves as a Primary Stroke Center. The Emergency Department provides urgent care for a diverse patient population, ranging from neonates to Geriatric patients, with an average of 100-160 patients daily. The hospital is equipped with advanced technology such as EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems, ensuring state-of-the-art patient care. The center is committed to fostering a professional, supportive atmosphere and offers ample free parking and modern facilities.

Job Description:
\nWe are seeking a compassionate and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our dynamic team at Aurora Medical Center West Allis. In this role, you will provide high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population, managing a wide spectrum of medical conditions including chest pain, strokes, sepsis, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and behavioral health cases. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective patient treatment, utilizing your clinical expertise to perform assessments, medications, procedures, and monitor cardiac rhythms.

This position offers an engaging work environment where you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills in a Level IV trauma setting, with support from experienced charge nurses, ED educators, and resource staff. The schedule is based on a 6-week cycle with shifts in the daytime from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM, including every other weekend rotations and a single holiday per year.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

    \n
  • Provide urgent and emergent care to diverse patient cases in accordance with hospital policies and protocols.\n
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop appropriate care plans.\n
  • Administer medications, perform procedures such as Foley and NGT placements, and interpret cardiac rhythms.\n
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.\n
  • Document all patient interactions accurately within the EPIC EMR system.\n
  • Support unit operations, including coverage of low-acuity patients and participation in educational activities.\n
  • Maintain proficiency with all clinical equipment and adhere to safety standards.\n

What You Bring:

\n

    \n
  • Active RN License (State of Wisconsin or appropriate to facility requirements).\n
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications; TNCC preferred but not required.\n
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of emergency department experience in the past year.\n
  • First-time travelers with 3+ years ED experience are welcome to apply.\n
  • Strong clinical skills including IV placement, cardiac monitoring, medication management, and critical thinking.\n
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion.\n
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.\n

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.\n
  • Experience working in high-acuity trauma and cardiac care settings.\n
  • Familiarity with EPIC EMR system within the last 2 years.\n
  • Additional certifications in advanced trauma life support or specialized emergency procedures is a plus.\n

  • Support staff available 24/7 including RT, hospitalists/PAs, phlebotomy, and resource nurses.\n
  • Utilization of advanced medical technology, including bedside monitors, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.\n
  • Orientation includes a 1-shift introduction, with continued mentorship from preceptors.\n
