Job Description
The Assembler supports production manufacturing to ensure customer deadlines are met by following detailed work instructions, company policies, and standard procedures. This role focuses on building products using basic hand tools, performing in-process quality checks, and accurately documenting work performed and any defects found. The position involves routine, repeatable tasks where attention to detail, consistency, and adherence to production standards and goals are essential. The Assembler receives general instructions for routine work and detailed guidance for new assignments and operates within established processes, seeking approval for any deviations.
Responsibilities
- Arrive at the assigned workstation each day and begin by carefully reading the work instructions for the specific job or function assigned.
- Follow written instructions and production documentation precisely to complete assembly tasks and meet production standards and goals.
- Perform mechanical and electrical assembly tasks using basic hand and power tools, including flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers and torque wrenches.
- Carry out multiple assembly functions as required, which may range from 1 to 20 different steps depending on the work instructions for the day.
- Conduct in-house quality checks on all parts and assemblies to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Apply the "see something, say something" approach by promptly identifying, documenting, and reporting any defective parts, quality issues, or process concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to production, quality checks, and any issues encountered, using basic computer skills where required.
- Work on routine assignments with limited judgment, seeking guidance for new or unfamiliar tasks and following detailed instructions for new assignments.
- Assist in cross-training other team members in the focus factory when requested, sharing knowledge of specific jobs and functions.
- Operate within established company policies and procedures and obtain approval before deviating from standard processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with production and cleanliness standards, including cleanroom requirements when applicable.
- Perform tasks while sitting or standing as required by the specific line or station, including lines where standing is required for the full shift.
- Handle materials and components safely, including carrying up to 10 lbs and lifting up to 45 lbs when needed.
- Frequently push, pull, bend, kneel, and stoop as needed to complete assembly and production tasks.
- Use basic computer and documentation systems to record work performed, production counts, and quality information.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
- Experience with basic assembly work using hand and power tools.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions and production documentation.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and mechanical components.
- Ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly tasks.
- Experience using basic hand tools such as flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers and torque wrenches.
- Ability to use torque tools correctly to meet specified requirements.
- Basic computer skills to support documentation and production recording.
- Ability to perform in-process quality checks and identify defective parts or assemblies.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for the duration of the shift, including working on lines that require standing for the full shift.
- Ability to frequently reach at waist level and occasionally reach above the head.
- Ability to carry up to 10 lbs and lift up to 45 lbs as part of regular duties.
- Ability to frequently push, pull, bend, kneel, and stoop during production work.
- Ability to work on routine assignments and follow general and detailed instructions as provided.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing or assembly environments is strongly preferred.
- Mechanically inclined candidates, including those with backgrounds in automotive service or similar hands-on roles, are a strong fit.
- Experience in electronics, general production, assembly line work, or general labor is beneficial.
- Familiarity with documentation control and following documented procedures is an advantage.
- Experience reading basic blueprints or schematics is helpful for mechanical or electrical assembly.
- Comfort working in a cleanroom or controlled environment is a plus.
- No formal certifications are required for this role.
- Candidates who enjoy working with their hands and learning new assembly functions will be well-suited to this position.

Work Environment
The work takes place in a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled production facility, ensuring it is never too hot or too cold on the floor. The environment includes assembly lines and workstations where employees may either sit or stand, depending on the specific job or line, with some lines requiring standing for the entire shift. Team members use basic hand and power tools such as flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers and torque wrenches, as well as computer systems for documentation and production tracking.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
