Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg House Supervisor unit position requiring Epic proficiency and at least 1-2 years of RN telemetry experience, working 12-hour night shifts at a Level IV Trauma Center in West Allis, WI.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital — a Level IV Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center with 277 beds
- Unit assignment is through the House Supervisors team, floating to any Med/Surg unit as directed by the House Supervisor
- Patient population includes all Med/Surg patient types
- Average patient ratio is up to 6 patients per nurse, depending on staffing
- Common skills/procedures include tracheostomy care, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm strip interpretation, and drip management (Lasix, Insulin, Heparin) and wound vacs
- EMR is Epic — experience required
- IV pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- Telemetry monitoring is centralized with a telemetry technician
- Schedule is three 12-hour night shifts per week, 1900–0700
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
Requirements
- Active WI or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of RN telemetry or Med/Surg experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- General Med/Surg skillset required, including telemetry rhythm interpretation
- Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the last year
- Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Unit support includes CNAs/Techs, HUCs, RNs, a Rapid Response Team, Phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws, and a Charge Nurse
- Orientation consists of 1 shift
- Holiday coverage is required for 2 major and 2 minor holidays within the contract period
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, with the expectation that the traveler extends their contract to accommodate the time off
- Scrubs should be any solid color with no logos
- Free parking is available on-site
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
