Job Title- Lawn And Landscape Crew Leader

Description- Under clear and general direction of the company owner and operations managers, the lawn and landscape crew leader is responsible for the finished product/ service pertaining to lawn and landscape maintenance and installation services, performed by themselves and their collective crew members. Emphasis is on quality control, evaluating properties and reporting concerns, ensuring the goals and procedures of the company are met on a daily basis, services performed safely, profitable production, and efficient operations of each service.

Key Responsibilities- (The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.)

  • Adhering to schedules and budgeted performance goals.
  • Evaluating properties, reporting concerns and sales opportunities.
  • Direction, goal setting, and oversight of crew member of a single production team.
  • Creating positive attitudes for crew members and leading by example.
  • Cleanliness of production equipment and vehicle.
  • Assessing and reporting maintenance/ repairs of production equipment to the correct personnel.
  • Maintaining DOT, MDA, and other government and/or trade mandated licenses, certifications, and regulations.
  • Ensuring in-field safety and all PPE being utilized per company and government regulations.
  • Represent the company. One must properly represent the views, image, and company culture as a competent crew leader while in or out of the field.
  • Proper reporting of production times, breaks, expenses, and other company specific record keeping requirements.
  • Hands-on production of services explained in duties below:
    • Utilization of large, powerful equipment such as push mowers, commercial zero turn mowers, walk behind mowers, stand on mowers, walk behind leaf blowers, skid loaders, rototillers, brush hogs, etc.
    • Utilization of small equipment such as hand tools, weed trimmers, stick edgers, leaf blowers, wheelbarrows, hedge trimmers, hand pruners, tillers, bed definers, ladders, etc.
    • Driving a large commercial vehicle with trailer (no CDL required).
    • Light maintenance or repairs of equipment in day-to-day operations and production.
    • Maintaining landscapes, trimming and removing plants, light trimming of trees and large shrubs requiring ladders or similar, installation of plants, hardscaping, and landscaping, and similar duties.
    • May be required to assist in lawn maintenance or other similar services when necessary to meet company goals and/or project schedules.

- May be required to assist in winter snow labor services. Operating equipment such as a push spreader, shovel, ATV, skid loader, snowplow, etc. in cold temperatures to clear snow and ice from residential and commercial properties. This is a 24/7 service and may include a separate job title, duties, requirements, compensation package, and responsibilities when that position is offered.

Requirements-

  • Crew leaders must have a valid Driver’s License that meets the requirements of the company, insurance company, and ability to meet minimum requirements set for by the Department of Transportation.
  • DOT physical must be obtained prior to driving company vehicle. If not already obtained prior to employment, our company will reimburse the direct cost of obtaining a DOT physical card and maintaining possession of the biennial DOT physical once employed for 60 days.
  • Strong understanding of lawn and landscape maintenance practices and principles.
  • Must possess required documents verifying the ability to work in the United States.
  • Flexible schedule. The ability to work overtime and weekends, if required, to meet company goals, client expectations, and/or recover from weather delays.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities outlined above, simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage others and work closely with co-workers to produce a quality product or service.
  • Communicate effectively through writing and orally. Bilingual is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Working in weather conditions that may be considered extreme.
  • 2 years of experience in the landscape maintenance or construction field. Must posses’ certain managerial traits.

Typical work week is four - 10 hour days (Monday-Thursday) 7:00AM-5:00PM. Overtime, additional days, and weekend work is sometimes required to meet client expectations, especially during weather delays.
