Cornell Forge is a recognized leader in the forging industry with a longstanding reputation for producing complex parts. Our facility is located just south of Chicago in Bedford Park.
We are currently recruiting for a Die Grinder. The primary role of the Die Grinder position is to prepare, assemble and deliver quality forge stamping dies. This position supports production with tooling problems by grinding and polishing dies to prevent production downtime.
Essential Functions:
- Interpret blueprints and use necessary tools and measuring equipment to fabricate, repair or modify new or existing tooling.
- Assemble and deliver various tooling components for production.
- Diagnose die problems and make necessary repairs at the production unit.
- Safely and proficiently operate all toolroom equipment including surface grinders and hand tools.
- Utilize an overhead crane and/or fork truck to move dies.
- Working knowledge of quality inspection gauges.
- Able to use various hand tools (grinder, hand stamps, etc.)

Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years’ experience in a related field
- Positive attitude and team player
- Proven history of an excellent work performance, reliability and attendance
- Strives for continuous improvement.
- Ability to apply good judgement and make decisions independently.
