Job DescriptionEmergency Vehicle Technician Job Summary We are looking full-time installers to the upfitting team. Responsibilities• Installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles • Truck body mounting, routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, consoles, heat and A/C connections, electrical connections • Disassembling and reassembling factory vehicles • You are expected to read drawings, including electrical schematics with limited help • Service work and repair • Be willing to work independently, maintain accurate records, find efficiencies while respecting quality, and contribute ideas to the company • Will be expected to supply your own set of tools commonly used in the performance of automotive repair work • Heavy-duty truck experience • On the road service Qualifications and Skills Emergency vehicle technicians must have the technological and electrical skills to repair and maintain the specialized equipment found in ambulances, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles. EVTs must be able to perform physically demanding tasks that may require access to confined spaces. Experience in all fields is not required. • Experience working with automotive electrical/mechanical systems • Welder fabrication with experience in aluminum and willingness to work on the floor • Mechanic with diesel/airbrakes experience • A valid driver’s license • Applicants must have their own basic tools • Be a constructive team player and possess and exhibit a positive attitude • Be detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship • Be comfortable in an exciting fast-paced environment. • Fire and Rescue knowledge base preferred. Higher consideration will be given to candidates who have completed at least two years, and preferably graduated from a four-year trade school, vocational high school or equivalent, with courses in general shop and automotive repair. Consideration will also be granted to those with a valid mechanic’s license or who are ASE Automotive Technician or EVT Emergency Vehicle Technician certified. Overtime is available when needed. Must be a motivated individual that can work independently and in a team environment. Must be able to maintain accurate records, find efficiencies while respecting quality, and contribute ideas to the company.
