Technical Writer – Manufacturing & Vehicle Systems

About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Writer to support program readiness and vehicle launch activities across GPS facilities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work—partnering with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams—and who has a hands-on or engineering-level understanding of how vehicle and mechanical systems function.
You will translate complex technical and mechanical information into clear, accurate documentation that supports build readiness, production execution, and successful program launches.
What You’ll Do
- Create, organize, and maintain technical documentation supporting program planning, build readiness, and launch execution.
- Serve as the primary documentation voice for GPS PPO readiness and build activities.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and supply chain teams to gather, verify, and clarify technical information.
- Document vehicle systems, mechanical processes, build issues, and resolution plans in a clear and actionable manner.
- Participate in on-site “Go and See” activities to validate build status, investigate issues, and capture real-world process details.
- Track milestones, identify potential risks early, and document countermeasures and improvement opportunities.
- Support escalations by ensuring accurate, timely communication that enables informed decision-making.
- Continuously look for ways to improve documentation and communication processes.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or operations environment.
- Strong hands-on or engineering understanding of vehicle mechanics, systems, or manufacturing processes.
- Ability to understand and document complex mechanical and technical information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and documentation tools.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems (e.g., EMBASSY, EMS) is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, Business, or a related field preferred
or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
