Job DescriptionJob Summary

Capital Technology Resources (CTR) is searching for an experienced Instrumentation Strain Gauge Technician. Primary responsibilities include the installation and setup of strain gages, accelerometers, thermocouples, and pressure/force/motion transducers, along with related data acquisition equipment. The role requires competence in test execution, data collection, calibration, and equipment maintenance. This position also involves hands-on work with motorcycles, requiring good manual dexterity, the ability to use hand tools efficiently, and the physical capability to lift a motorcycle upright and install it on a lift table.

All work involves proprietary methods and future product testing, requiring a high level of confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

  • Use protective equipment at all times and follow safe work practices to avoid accidents or incidents.

  • Collaborate with team members to identify and implement safety improvements.

  • This position is designated safety-sensitive and requires adherence to CTR's drug-free workplace policies.

Instrumentation

  • Prepare, install, calibrate, and maintain test transducers and data acquisition equipment per engineering work orders.

  • Remove and document instrumentation following test completion.

Observation & Reporting

  • Record test instrumentation data and documentation in accordance with proprietary and ISO procedures and protocols.

Environmental Compliance

  • Follow facility test procedures to prevent release of fuels, lubricants, or contaminants.

  • Implement safeguards for proper disposal or recycling in the event of a release.

Technical Competence

  • Maintain and improve technical skills through hands-on and formal training.

  • Stay informed of new developments in technical fields through professional resources, training, and seminars.

Customer Focus

  • Communicate technical information clearly, both in writing and in person.

  • Contribute to lab processes and ensure accurate reporting of technical results.

Team & Individual Development

  • Assist and mentor less experienced lab personnel.

  • Provide technical guidance and foster collaboration with team members and supervisors.

  • Maintain confidentiality on all prototype and test projects.

Required Education & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Associate degree in a technology-related field (preferably electrical/electronics), or equivalent industry/military training and experience.

    • With associate degree or equivalent training: minimum 2 years of experience required

    • Without formal training: minimum 5 years of applicable experience required

  • Experience with dynamic and static test instrumentation, calibration, and data acquisition.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, email, and basic digital/analog data acquisition.

  • Ability to read and interpret data graphs, schematics, and instrumentation (scopes, gauges, spectrum analyzers, etc.).

  • Strong written communication skills for technical documentation.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Manual dexterity and ability to efficiently use hand tools.

  • Ability to lift a motorcycle upright from a parked position.

  • Ability to install motorcycles onto lift tables.

  • Work may involve varied noise levels, travel, and extended or irregular hours.
