Automation Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $79,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement industrial automation solutions including PLCs, HMIs, and robotics.
Program and configure PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell), HMIs, SCADA systems, and robotic cells for manufacturing processes.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex automation equipment and control systems to minimize downtime.
Optimize existing automated processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate new automation technologies and system upgrades.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation systems, schematics, and operational procedures.
Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Recommended Qualifications

Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.
Experience with industrial robotics programming, integration, and maintenance (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA).
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP).
Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot automated systems in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of machine safety standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 13849, OSHA).
Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and data acquisition for process optimization.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) platforms.
Proficiency in programming and integrating industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).
Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for OEE and production metrics.
Knowledge of industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity best practices.
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience.
