Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide expert nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit setting located in Volcano, HI, supporting a 15-bed unit comprising 3 Step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds. This role requires delivering specialized nursing services with a focus on acute care and telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver primary nursing care tailored for progressive care and step-down ICU patients.
  • Monitor telemetry strips and perform continuous cardiac monitoring.
  • Conduct fingerstick blood sugar testing and coordinate patient care using Meditech charting.
  • Administer medications utilizing Pyxis systems and manage respiratory support equipment such as BIPAP.
  • Float to other acute care units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and Emergency Department as needed.
  • Adhere to the dress code by wearing scrubs at all times.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active State of Hawaii Registered Nurse License required by the assignment start date.
  • Minimum of one year hospital acute care experience within the last year; progressive care and telemetry experience strongly preferred.
  • Current ACLS certification preferred.
  • Current PALS certification preferred.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.
  • Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:4 in Progressive Care and 1:3 in Step-down ICU.
  • Flexibility to float across multiple units.

Schedule & Requirements:

  • Scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation.
  • No guaranteed hours or on-call requirements.
  • Must arrive the Thursday before assignment start date to attend employee health appointment on Friday.
  • Candidates unable to meet this schedule should not accept the assignment.
