Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer with a strong focus on mechanical harness engineering to support the development of next-generation energy storage systems. This role is ideal for someone who excels in 3D CAD routing, cross-functional collaboration, and proactively driving design ownership across complex electro-mechanical systems. The successful candidate will have at least 6+ years of experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D harness routing using CAD tools, primarily SolidWorks Harness Routing Module.
  • Develop 2D harness layout drawings.
  • Design mounting strategies, routing paths, and interface points throughout the system.
  • Create simple mechanical parts such as brackets, clamps, strain-relief features, and other installation hardware.
  • Generate and maintain detailed documentation including connector and terminal specifications, harness drawings and schematics, Bill of Materials (BOM), installation drawings, and cable and harness construction details.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, test, and systems engineering teams to ensure alignment and integration across the full battery pack system.
  • Proactively drive design reviews, resolve interface challenges, and present updates to cross-functional partners.
  • Take ownership of harness routing and mechanical integration tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Operate proactively to identify gaps, reach out for alignment, and push design progression without needing to be nudged.

Essential Skills

  • 6+ years of hands-on harness design experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, especially harness routing.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical integration principles, packaging, and routing constraints.
  • Experience designing brackets, routing supports, clamps, and simple mechanical components.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present designs clearly to engineering stakeholders.
  • Autonomous, proactive working style—drives work forward independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Maintenance of component libraries is a bonus skill.
  • Experience in generating and maintaining detailed documentation, including connectors, terminals, clamps, and BOM.
