Pastry Chef
The Market Basket, northern New Jersey’s premier gourmet food destination in affluent Franklin Lakes, NJ, seeks an experienced Pastry Chef to fill an available position. Bring your creativity to life in our kitchen. We are looking for a passionate, skilled pastry chef who loves working with high-quality ingredients and takes pride in their craft.
The successful candidate will collaborate with our team of Pastry Chefs and assistants in a fast-paced, exciting, and unique environment, located in our warehouse/commissary facility.
Schedule: Full-time, Seven-day operation, daytime shifts, flexible schedule, closed Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter.
Wage: Competitive, based on experience. Benefits package available.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare pastry, cakes, pies and associated baked goods.
- Decorate the items above for both retail sales and catering.
- Monitor the quality of all food.
- Develop new items by following and creating market trends (Vegan, Gluten Free, etc)
- Work efficiently and help to resolve any problems that arise in the pastry kitchen.
- Operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Maintain a clean kitchen and abide by all state food safety and sanitation laws.
