Job DescriptionJob Title: Assistant Controller

Location: Suffolk County, Long Island, NY (On-Site)

A growing mid-sized manufacturing company in Suffolk County, Long Island is actively seeking a hands-on and experienced Assistant Controller to join their leadership team. This is a key strategic role reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), responsible for overseeing core financial functions and supporting ongoing business growth through data-driven decision-making.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, billing, cost accounting, payroll, budgeting, and tax compliance

  • Analyze and monitor key financial metrics, identifying trends and performance indicators

  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes; prepare internal and external financial statements

  • Provide financial reporting and insights to the CFO and executive team

  • Partner with operations and plant management to implement cost controls and increase profitability

  • Support financial planning and capital investment decisions, including pricing, contracts, and forecasts

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance or MBA (strongly preferred)

  • CPA designation (strongly preferred)

  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)

  • Deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and standard costing

  • Strong analytical and communication skills
