Qualifications
Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited university or college, or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing with a plan to complete graduate education in nursing in the next five years. Five years of clinical experience in nursing is preferred. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or APRN in the state of Utah required. Ability to work as a member of a team is essential. Basic computer literacy skills required.
Job Summary
Practical Nursing substitute instructor(s) will be responsible for providing theory and/or clinical instruction to students in the Practical Nursing Program for current Practical Nursing Instuctors.
Essential Duties
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Teaches courses as outlined in the curriculum to include theory content, clinical content, and skills lab content.
- Provides students with instruction in a safe environment.
- Administers exams as requested by instructors.
- Promotes development of professional attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors among students through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Maintains expertise through the application of knowledge, teaching, service, clinical practice, and/or scholarly research
- Keeps director, assistant director, and/or clinical coordinator appraised of issues, problems, or resources needed.
- Coordinates with instructors to resolve issues affecting student training.
- May supervise students in clinical sites.
- Adheres to safety practices.
- Adheres to a code of ethics.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
- May participate in faculty and departmental meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned by the instructor, director, assistant director, and/or clinical coordinator.
