Job Title: Template Designer
Location-Type: Remote
Start Date Is: March 23rd or March 30th
Duration: 150-hour contract (~20 hours/week) with potential extension (total of a 7-8 week contract estimated)

Job Description:
Seeking a Template Designer to translate existing design assets into scalable, user-friendly Canva templates that enable non-designers to easily create branded content.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Convert existing Adobe and Figma design files into structured, reusable Canva templates
-
Build social media templates primarily for Instagram across multiple branded channels
-
Develop YouTube thumbnail templates and additional digital creative assets
-
Create 3–5 presentation templates, including pitch decks and scientific presentation formats
-
Architect templates with locked layouts while allowing flexible content editing for non-design users
-
Implement Canva features such as brand kits, smart blocks, template permissions, and reusable modules
-
Ensure strong grid alignment, grouping, and locking systems for usability and consistency
-
Review existing workflows and recommend improvements to optimize template usability and scalability
-
Provide consulting on template architecture and best practices for internal self-service creative production
Requirements:

Must-Haves:
-
5 years of Canva template design, template architecture, or closely related design systems work
-
Strong experience building scalable design systems and template frameworks
-
Experience translating Figma or Adobe design files into Canva templates
-
Deep understanding of Canva features including brand kits, template permissions, smart blocks, grouping/locking, and grid alignment
-
Experience working within marketing or social media teams
-
Ability to design templates that balance locked composition with flexible content editing
-
Portfolio demonstrating advanced Canva templates, typography, and multi-rule template systems
-
Examples showing complex templates utilizing locking, permissions, and brand kit functionality
-
Strong consulting mindset with ability to recommend improvements to design workflows

USC or GC work authorization
