Job Description

This role operates an electric sit-down forklift in a fast-paced food manufacturing and warehouse environment, focusing on safe, efficient material handling, loading and unloading, and accurate inventory movement using RF scanners and a specialized track racking system.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an electric sit-down forklift safely and efficiently for approximately 85%–95% of each shift.
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are handled carefully and positioned correctly.
  • Move pallets and products in and out of warehouse racking, including working with track rack systems that use sliding tracks instead of standard racks.
  • Use RF scanners to scan pallets and packages accurately when off the forklift.
  • Perform picking, staging, and organizing of materials to support shipping and receiving operations.
  • Support inventory control by accurately scanning and tracking product movement within the warehouse and manufacturing areas.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and site-specific safety rules at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in both warehouse and production zones.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate material flow and resolve any issues with loads, locations, or documentation.
  • Inspect the forklift before use and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of recent experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to operate an electric sit-down forklift safely for the majority of the work shift.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks using a forklift.
  • Ability to use RF scanners to scan pallets and packages accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory processes and material handling procedures.
  • Ability to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Ability to work a 2nd shift schedule (3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.), Monday through Friday, with most Saturdays and some Sundays, and stay 1–2 hours after the scheduled shift when needed.
  • Capability to work in a non-climate-controlled food manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety while operating equipment and handling products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or food warehousing environment.
  • Familiarity with track rack or other specialized warehouse racking systems.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving, including picking, loading, unloading, and staging materials.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members in a busy production setting.
  • Reliability and flexibility to support overtime and weekend work as required by production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a food manufacturing and warehouse facility that is non-climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. You will spend most of your time on an electric sit-down forklift, working around bulk and packaged food products, warehouse racking, and track rack systems with sliding tracks. The role follows a 2nd shift schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with most Saturdays and some Sundays, and the expectation to stay 1–2 hours after the shift when production requires it. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards apply, and specific attire is required, including 6-inch steel-toe boots, hair net and beard net as applicable, and no jewelry, fake nails, or loose clothing. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with frequent interaction with material handling equipment and ongoing shipping, receiving, and production activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.50/hr.
