Grow Public Schools operates Grow Academy Arvin, and Grow Academy Shafter, both TK-8 schools, serving over 1,600 students with a plan to open two additional schools to serve a total of 3,200 students.
Job Overview & Summary
The MTSS Coordinator is a valuable contributor to help meet the organizations academic and culture-related goals. The MTSS Coordinator supports the educational programs departments goal of meeting the diverse needs of all students, including academic, behavioral and social-emotional learning. S/he leads student culture and behavior initiatives in collaboration with the Principals, as well as the implementation of the Community Schools Grant to bring community resources and partnerships to Grow schools. S/he will work collaboratively with school site leaders, teachers, and other departments in the home office.
Key Responsibilities:
The MTSS Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation of the Community Schools Grant and leads the day-to-day work related to initiatives on school culture, climate and the implementation of PBIS. S/he is also responsible for contributing to the academic team to ensure the needs of diverse learners are met through an MTSS framework.
Key responsibilities include:
Academic Team Contributor
- Support the design and implementation of Educational Program improvements.
- Help ensure strong alignment of MTSS systems and procedures across campuses.
- Support implementation of professional development with school site staff to build capacity.
- Collaborate with the academic team to ensure the effective integration of MTSS across Grow Public Schools.
- Establish strong relationships with school site staff, including the Principal, other members of the school leadership team, and other school site staff members.
- Seek, reflect, and act on feedback on whats working and where Grow Public Schools has opportunities to improve.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MTSS and PBIS
- Develop and monitor systems for supporting students socially and emotionally. Lead student culture and behavior initiatives, in collaboration with Principals, Assistant Principals, Deans, and other school site staff, including ELOP staff.
- Lead the implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), in collaboration with school leadership teams and the academic team.
- Develop clear social-emotional learning goals for schools, and lead all student behavioral initiatives, including Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS), in collaboration with school leadership teams.
- Facilitate monthly PBIS team meetings using Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS) to support problem-solving, coordination, and planning.
- Monitor the fidelity of implementation at school sites, including the identification of students, delivery of Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and progress monitoring.
- Establish data collection and analysis procedures through a data system to inform decision-making around student needs and home office/school resource allocation.
- Continuously support the evaluation of the effectiveness of MTSS, PBIS and social emotional learning programs for all student groups and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Monitor the administration of the SRSS universal screening tool (Academic/Social- Emotional/Bullying Survey).
- Coordinate and facilitate culture-related PD and training for school-based and home office staff.
- Support the creation of a calendar of differentiated PD sessions and tracking of the completion of the PD passport. Teachers and school staff will be given options within the passport to fulfill a professional learning path based on the PBIS objectives.
- Participate in Culture Leadership Teams (CLTs) at each campus.
Community Schools Grant
- Coordinate all elements of the grant, ensuring all grant goals are met, and reporting to Grow leadership, community stakeholders, including the Community Schools Advisory Council, and government agencies.
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing development of the community school model, ensuring that it aligns with the schools mission, values, and goals.
- Manage the Community Schools grant to create, develop, and sustain strong partnerships between Grow schools, students, families, local community organizations, service providers, local government agencies, KCSOS, and other stakeholders to provide a wide range of services in support of families and students academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs holistically.
- Ensure greater access to mental and physical health services is provided to families.
- Actively participate in required or relevant local, regional, statewide, department, and division meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all Community Schools grant requirements.
- Oversee and manage the budget and monitor expenditures to ensure adequate grant funding.
- In partnership with school administrators, ensure required reporting is completed on time, including developing and submitting quarterly fiscal reports to the CDE, developing grant program plans, and submitting other grant reports.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the Grow Public Schools core beliefs and mission.
- Holds a valid CA Clear Teaching Credential
- A minimum of 3 years of educational professional experience, ideally in both classroom settings and instructional leadership.
- Strong experience working on high-performing school site teams.
- Experience as a trusted member of an organizations team.
- Excellent strategic, analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Strong systems-level thinking when solving problems.
- Demonstrated experience building organizational culture.
- A demonstrated commitment to leading for equity and social justice.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present effectively.
