Experienced Web Press Operator Wanted!!
Job Title: Web Press Operator – Direct Hire (3rd Shift)
Our partner, a well-established commercial printing organization in central Iowa is seeking an experienced Web Press Operator to join their overnight production team. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a stable, long-standing operation that values quality workmanship, reliability, and teamwork.
In this role, you will take the lead on a web-fed, heat-set offset press and play a key part in ensuring smooth production, consistent print quality, and efficient press operations. You will work closely with a small crew, oversee setup through completion, and help maintain high standards across every job.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and oversee production on a heat-set web press
- Lead and support press crew members during setup and production runs
- Monitor and adjust color balance, ink flow, and registration to maintain print accuracy
- Prepare and adjust folders, trimmers, and other finishing equipment
- Perform press startups, quality checks, and job approvals
- Complete routine maintenance, cleaning, and mechanical adjustments
- Review job tickets and production documentation prior to and during runs
- Identify and resolve production or equipment issues in real time
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, safety, and waste reduction
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years operating a heat-set web press (lead-level experience strongly preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot press and auxiliary equipment
- Background working with traditional commercial press machinery (Heidelberg, Sunday, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and production specifications
- Comfortable working independently during overnight shifts
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer proficiency for production reporting and documentation
Schedule & Compensation
- Overnight / 3rd shift schedule
- Competitive salary range of $60,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience
