MEP Project Engineer - TX-HOU - Onsite

BW Industrial Construction is seeking an experienced MEP Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution ofindustrial construction projects with significant mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scope. This role ensures that MEP systems are integrated correctly into industrial facilities, meet engineering and safety standards, and support efficient field installation. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and engineering teams to maintain technical accuracy, resolve issues, and keep projects moving safely and on schedule.
This position is ideal for candidates with direct industrial construction experience, especially those familiar with manufacturing, heavy industrial, or processdriven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret industrial MEP drawings, specifications, P&IDs, onelines, and technical documents.
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to ensure proper system integration.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, and technical clarifications for MEP scopes.
- Support planning and scheduling of MEP activities, including material tracking and equipment verification.
- Conduct field walks in active industrial environments to monitor installation progress and identify issues.
- Ensure all MEP installations comply with industrial codes, standards, and safety requirements (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.).
- Assist with quality control inspections, testing, and commissioning support.
- Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and project records in Procore, Bluebeam, or similar systems.
- Provide technical support to project managers and field teams throughout construction.
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Must have 5+ years minimum experience with at least 3 years of experience onindustrial construction projects (manufacturing, industrial facilities, heavy industrial, EPC, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret industrial engineering drawings (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, P&IDs).
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and industrial construction processes.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and field coordination skills.
- Preferred
- Experience supporting installation, testing, or commissioning of industrial MEP systems.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, ASHRAE, and other industrial codes.
- Experience coordinating with electrical and mechanical subcontractors.
- EIT, PE, or other engineering certifications (preferred but not required).
Work Environment
- Onsite role in active industrial construction zones.
- Requires PPE and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Occasional travel to client or vendor locations may be required.
Additional Job Information
- Worksite: Combination of onsite days in the Houston office and field presence at active industrial project worksites.
- Schedule: MondayFriday, 40 hours per week, with the ability to work overtime and occasional weekends based on project needs.
- Days/Hours: Mon-Fri; 40 hours per week; ability to work weekends and overtime as needed
- FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime pay).
- Compensation: $38+ per hour, depending on experience.
