The Bus Driver at Butler County Family YMCA provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.


Pick-up bus at Armco Park at 8:00am

Leave for Butler YMCA to pick-up kids

Return to Armco Park to drop kids off at 9:00am

Pick-up bus at Armco Park at 3:15pm

Load kids to return to the Butler YMCA

Return to Armco Park by 4:45pm

Start date: June 1st for training (Camp starts on June 8th)

End date: August 14th

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • State requires all prospective employees to submit the following:
    1. FBI Clearance (Department of Human Services),
    2. PA Child Abuse History Clearance,
    3. PA State Police Clearance,
    4. National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) Certificate,
    5. Health Assessment with TB screening
  • Valid Driver’s License; required. Possess appropriate class license. Driving a 78-passenger school bus requires a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • At least one-year work experience as a bus driver; preferred.
  • Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
  • High School diploma or equivalent; required.
  • Minimum age of 18; required.
  • CPR/Pediatric First Aid/AED Certification required within 60 days of employment by PQAS certified trainer; required.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
  2. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  3. Creates a safe environment in which others feel welcome and respected.
  4. Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
  5. Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
  6. Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and records all information, such as gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
  7. Cleans out bus each day.
  8. Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to respond to emergency situations. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

ALL POSITIONS REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING CLEARANCES FOR EMPLOYMENT PRIOR TO THE DATE OF HIRE. CLEARANCES ARE ACCEPTED WITHIN 2 YEARS OF THE HIRE DATE.

  • PA CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CERTIFICATION
  • FBI (DHS) FINGERPRINTING HISTORY CLEARANCE
