Position Summary

Calliott is seeking a full-time Electrical Designer/Drafter to support the design and documentation of electrical systems for building projects. This position is ideal for a recent graduate of a technical college or associate degree program who wants to build a long-term career in consulting engineering while working directly with senior engineers and licensed Professional Engineers and Architects in the construction industry.

This is a Remote / Home Office-Based position and is expected to be performed from the employee’s home office. Calliott will provide the equipment necessary to support the home office work environment, including a laptop, docking station, dual monitors, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment needed to perform the job effectively.

The successful candidate will assist with drawing and model production in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, participate in site visits to observe and document existing conditions and construction progress while accompanied by senior staff, and gradually assume increasing project coordination and project management responsibilities under the direction of senior engineering staff.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise electrical drawings, models, schedules, and details using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Support the design and documentation of electrical building systems under the direction of senior engineering staff.
  • Assist with field investigations and site visits to observe existing conditions, take measurements, collect photographs, and document field information while accompanied by senior staff.
  • Incorporate redlines and design markups accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate drawings and models with other engineering disciplines, architects, and project team members.
  • Help maintain organized project files, drawing sets, and related documentation.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and assist with tracking action items, design updates, and deliverables.
  • Support internal quality control efforts to help ensure documents are coordinated, clear, and constructible.
  • Learn company standards, applicable codes, and best practices for engineering documentation.
  • Over time, assume increasing responsibility for select project tasks, coordination efforts, and project management support under senior staff supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or other 2-year technical degree in electrical design, engineering technology, CAD/BIM, drafting, or a related field.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior engineers and designers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites with senior staff to observe and document existing conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively in a home office-based work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, or other experience in MEP consulting, construction, design-build, or building systems design.
  • Exposure to electrical systems for commercial or institutional facilities.
  • Familiarity with reading construction documents.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in growing into project coordination and project management over time.
