Senior Accountant
Position Summary
We are seeking a remote detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong general accounting knowledge, experience with month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting expertise, and hands-on experience with sales and use tax compliance. This role requires a highly organized professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies for multiple brands (multi-state) within the organization
- Manage multiple entities P&Ls from revenue through Selling, General, and Administrative Expense
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely
- Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
- Research and resolve sales and use tax issues, including nexus and exemption documentation
- Support special accounting projects and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, payroll, and management teams
- Perform ad hoc tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 4+ years of accounting experience required. Minimum of 2+ years of private industry accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software / ERP systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
- Experience with multi-state/multi-entity organizations preferred
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred
- Experience with sales and use tax highly preferred
