Job Description

The Clinical Educator serves as a subject matter expert on surgical instrumentation and endoscopic scopes used in the operating room (OR) including Rigid Scopes, Cameras, Drills, Large and Small Diameter Flexible, etc. This role is responsible for providing in-service training, clinical support, and educational programs to hospital staff, surgical teams, and internal personnel. The Clinical Educator ensures proper product usage, reinforces best practices in instrument care & handling, and supports clinical adoption of surgical devices and repair standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical education and hands-on training on surgical instrumentation and scopes in the OR and sterile processing environments.
  • Conduct new customer onboarding and in-servicing for surgeons, nurses, and sterile processing teams.
  • Collaborate with sales and service teams to support product evaluations and conversions.
  • Develop and deliver training materials, competency checklists, and documentation tools.
  • Stay current with HSPA, TJC (JCAHO), AORN, AAMI, and manufacturer guidelines related to instrumentation and endoscopy care.
  • Identify education gaps and implement custom training solutions.
  • Participate in operating room case support as needed to ensure proper equipment use and troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to scope and instrument handling.
  • Serve as a clinical liaison during product complaints, recalls, or quality investigations.
  • Support trade shows, workshops, and webinars as a clinical subject matter expert.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Surgical Technologist (CST), or Sterile Processing certification (CRCST) preferred.
  • AAMI ST91 & CRCST / CER certified preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of operating room experience, preferably with endoscopic instrumentation and/or surgical support services.
  • Experience in training, education, or clinical support in a hospital or device company setting.
  • Experience with endoscopy and laparoscopic surgical procedures
  • Clinical education or sales support experience in the medical device industry.
  • Understanding of hospital tracking systems (Censitrac, SPM, Sonar, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of OR workflows, infection control, and instrument reprocessing standards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Road Warrior Travel Required.
