Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer III leads complex, high-impact engineering initiatives that directly support critical infrastructure operations within the oil and energy sector. This role requires deep technical expertise in power system design, advanced analytical capability, and strong project leadership experience.

This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical and power distribution systems supporting infrastructure such as pipelines and compressor stations. The Electrical Engineer III manages projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and budget requirements while leading small teams and collaborating cross-functionally.

As an Electrical Engineer III, you will be responsible for:Power System Design & Technical Leadership

  • Develop one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, system layouts, and perform load calculations.

  • Provide technical expertise in high-voltage systems including transformers, generators, and switchgear.

  • Promote integration of advanced technologies such as automation, real-time monitoring, renewable energy systems, and grid integration solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical design codes and safety standards (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, etc.).

Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Manage complex engineering projects from concept through completion.

  • Ensure projects align with business objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.

  • Lead small engineering teams and collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

Advanced Analysis & Simulation

  • Perform power system design, analysis, and simulation for high-voltage equipment and grid integration projects.

  • Utilize advanced engineering software to model and validate system performance.

  • Review and interpret electrical schematics and contractor engineering drawings.

  • Support commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with design specifications.

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement arc flash mitigation strategies and fault detection systems.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across all project phases.

  • Maintain safety as a top priority in all engineering and operational decisions.

QualificationsRequired Education

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with 10+ years of electrical engineering experience

OR

Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited institution in a relevant field with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and four (4) years of engineering experience in natural gas, data centers, or related industries.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in design, implementation, and optimization of power distribution systems supporting critical infrastructure such as pipelines and compressor stations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects from concept through completion.

  • Experience leading small teams and collaborating cross-functionally within oil and energy sector environments.

Hard Skills

  • Power system design, analysis, and simulation.

  • Development of one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, system layouts, and load calculations.

  • Expertise in high-voltage equipment including transformers, generators, and switchgear.

  • Knowledge of grid integration and renewable energy systems.

  • Compliance with electrical design codes and safety standards.

Software & Technical Proficiency

Proficiency in:

  • ETAP

  • MATLAB

  • PSCAD

  • Simulink

Including:

  • Power system modeling and simulation for high-voltage and grid integration projects

  • Reviewing and interpreting electrical schematics and contractor engineering drawings

  • Supporting commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment
