Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures with precision and care
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and maintaining aseptic technique to ensure infection control standards are met
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history accurately to support comprehensive patient care
- Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment by following infection control protocols and adhering to dental terminology standards
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix for medical documentation and records management
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and HIPAA compliance to ensure accurate record keeping and confidentiality
- Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and 3D scanner technology
- Familiarity with infection control practices including aseptic technique and anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently using four-handed dentistry techniques in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of dental assisting responsibilities across specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics
