Director of Accounting
Location: Sandy Springs, GA (Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 day remote)
Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 (commensurate w/ experience & qualifications)
About WCE Investments: WCE Investments manages and develops residential and commercial properties throughout Metro Atlanta. With over 350 units in our growing portfolio, we specialize in finding value-add opportunities in emerging neighborhoods.

The Opportunity: As our first Director of Accounting, you'll establish the accounting infrastructure for our growing real estate company spanning multiple verticals—acquisition, renovation, rental management, and commercial properties. You'll join at a pivotal time as we transition from founder-led financial oversight to professional accounting management.
What You'll Do:
- Design financial reporting systems: Create standardized monthly and quarterly reporting packages that link individual property P&Ls to consolidated financial statements, with specific metrics for different property types (renovation, rental, commercial)
- Manage system integration: Oversee the data flow between AppFolio (property management) and QuickBooks Online, ensuring accurate transfer of rent collections, maintenance expenses, and property-level costs
- Develop capital optimization strategies: Create financial models that guide capital allocation decisions across renovation projects, property acquisitions, and maintenance reserves based on ROI analysis
- Build accounting infrastructure: Help recruit and lead 2 additional new hires for the accounting team (Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerk) while developing detailed accounting policies for property acquisitions, renovation capitalization, revenue recognition, and expense allocation
- Implement cash management: Establish treasury management procedures that optimize cash flow between operating accounts, construction draws, and investment reserves while maintaining liquidity for operations
Initial Priorities:
- Assess backlog: Evaluate the 2024 accounting status for all entities, develop a structured timeline to reconstruct financial records by August 2025, and coordinate with external tax professionals on documentation requirements
- Standardize processes: Implement consistent transaction coding, capitalization policies, and month-end close procedures across WCE Investments, WCE Retail Acquisitions, WCE Rental Holdings, and Longwood Property Management
- Create property reporting: Design standardized monthly reports that track occupancy rates, maintenance costs per unit, renovation ROI, and performance metrics by property asset type and building classification across 350+ units
- Develop tracking systems: Implement project accounting for renovation expenditures that connects budget vs. actual spending to post-renovation property valuations and rental performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or post-graduate/advanced degree in Accounting (CPA preferred), or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years in accounting with 3+ years in real estate
- Experience with multi-entity financial reporting and consolidation
- Knowledge of real estate accounting principles and metrics (NOI, Cap Rates, DSCR)
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (3+ years) and property management software
