Position Summary
Carbondale Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, a 115-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, is seeking a reliable and compassionate Part-Time Dietary Aide to join our Dietary team. In this role, you will support the preparation, assembly, and delivery of nutritious meals to our residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment. You will help uphold our commitment to restaurant-style dining, personalized care, and resident dignity in a supportive, team-oriented setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation, portioning, and tray assembly according to resident diet orders, preferences, and therapeutic requirements (e.g., pureed, diabetic, low-sodium, texture-modified diets).

Deliver meal trays to residents in dining rooms or rooms as needed and collect trays after meals.

Set up and stock dining areas, beverage stations, and snack carts; ensure supplies are available for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and between-meal snacks.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, dining rooms, equipment, carts, and work areas in compliance with health department, infection control, and facility standards.

Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment; properly store food and supplies following food safety guidelines (FIFO, temperature controls, labeling).

Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food deliveries as directed.

Provide friendly, respectful service to residents, families, and guests; respond to special requests within dietary guidelines.

Report any resident concerns related to meals, appetite, or dietary needs to the Dietary Supervisor or nursing staff.

Follow all safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures; participate in required training and in-services.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support smooth dietary operations.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in food service, dietary, or healthcare settings is a plus but not required; we are willing to train the right candidate.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including diet orders and recipes.

Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25–50 lbs, bend, reach, and push/pull carts.

Ability to communicate effectively and interact compassionately with elderly residents and team members.

Must pass required background checks and health screenings.
