Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a contract position supporting multiple K-12 schools in the Kirtland, NM area. This role involves onsite work at two to three schools in a school district setting, serving as the Lead Nurse to provide comprehensive health services to students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide Health Aides across assigned campuses
- Provide first aid and basic healthcare services to students and staff members
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to protocols
- Support students managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
- Maintain accurate documentation of health office visits, medication administration, and immunization records
- Assist with student health screenings and participate in IEP/504 plan support
- Respond effectively to health emergencies with calm and professionalism
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and healthcare providers to promote student health and safety
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- CPR/AED certification required
- Experience in a school health setting or working with children is preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to travel between multiple school locations during the workweek
- Successful completion of background check and fingerprint clearance
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Navajo (Din) is highly preferred
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs), school health regulations, and FERPA guidelines is beneficial
Location and Duration:
- Position based in Kirtland, NM supporting nearby schools
- Contract length from ASAP to May 29, 2026
- Full-time, approximately 37.5 hours per week, onsite only
