Job Summary
The Quality Inspector will perform inspections on product using appropriate inspection tools, including CMM and hand tools, and techniques. and act accordingly to release the product or to hold it, depending on the inspection’s results. The QC Inspector will calibrate tools according to the schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and document First Article, In-process and Final inspection on parts according to the Process Plan requirements using the appropriate tools and techniques to ensure product specifications are met. Determine the acceptance or rejection of inspected parts and act accordingly.
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to inspect parts.
- Verify that manufacturing documentation such as inspection sheet, Process Plan, etc. are filled out properly by the previous operation and act accordingly.
- Maintain records of inspection data to comply to customer requirements, TTU’s procedures and regulations.
- Layout work and adapt inspection equipment as necessary to stay within production schedule.
- Provide technical support, data and information to the manufacturing processes, as needed.
- Participate/lead daily Inspection meetings.
- Train others on procedures, performing inspections, using tools and techniques.
- Initiate and finalize job in the NCPR (Non-Conforming Product) database, when product does not meet specifications.
- Segregate non-conforming material (raw material, in-process and finished good)
- Ensure inspection documentation is up to date, reviewing as schedule and making changes as necessary.
- Participate in Corrective Action Requests projects, coming from internal or external issues, collaborating in the identification of Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
- Perform tools calibration according to procedures, maintain records, and act accordingly if nonconformance is found.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment in the Quality Control Lab.
- Train new inspectors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High attention to details
- Ability to communicate information and technical concept to a variety of team members from all levels of the organization
- Organization skills
- Ability to solve problems by identifying root cause and corrective/preventive actions
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, technical language and national/international regulations, including ISO 9001.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma with two or more years working as a machinist or machine shop inspection preferred.
- Formal education or a mix of training and experience in using measurement tools preferred.
- Formal education or a mix of training and experience in operating CMM and other measurement devices preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring high speed to complete tasks.
- Experience using computer, including Microsoft Windows and Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.), ERP systems and other software/databases.
