Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
As the first impression of the organization, the Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a vital role in attracting, sourcing, and hiring top talent. This position collaborates closely with hiring managers and teams across all organizational levels to fulfill staffing and development needs.JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures high quality candidate and new employee experience
  • Develops and implements onboarding programs; continuously evaluates programs to ensure necessary adjustments are made
  • Advertises job vacancies, screens candidates, and manages the recruitment process
  • Maintains and manages social media platforms and professional networks
  • Applies best practices in recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Ensures compliance with the Affirmative Action Plan
  • Utilizes the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) effectively; maintains applicant database
  • Assists hiring managers with creating, revising, and maintaining accurate job descriptions
  • Establishes and develops new resources for employment; maintains recruitment database of contacts
  • Maintains relationships with staffing agencies; responsible for onboarding process for temp employees
  • Processes position and status transfers with the HRIS system; ensures communication with supervisors for accuracy


  • Oversees the pre-employment screening process, including background checks and drug screenings
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation and updates the program as needed
  • Ensures a seamless and efficient integration of new hires into the company’s HRIS by:
    • Entering and verifying new hire information in the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements
    • Creating employee profiles, assigning appropriate roles, and updating/uploading necessary documents within the system
    • Coordinating with payroll, IT, and other departments to facilitate system access, benefits enrollment, and other essential onboarding tasks
  • Supports the implementation of training & development programs for employees; facilitates training sessions for team members
  • Coordinates with low-vision clinic for required eye reports
  • Ensures compliance with I-9s and conducts internal audits
  • Ensures compliance with ISO standards, Ability One Program, Texas Workforce Commission, and other regulating agencies
  • Submits new hires to the Office of Attorney General Reporting Website
  • Implements Employee Satisfaction Surveys and maintains communication with employees after hire
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • At least 2+ years of previous talent acquisition support or HR experience preferred
  • Nonprofit experience a plus

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective across all organizational levels
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills are a MUST – with a “servant-like mentality”
  • Ability to act with integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently with little direction
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
